LANDSCAPE LANDSCAPE The presented lot was created by the
 39.5 × 39.5 in (100 × 100 cm) 32.5 × 32.5 in (82.5 × 82.5 cm) artist during an extremely vital transitional

phase, as to when he was exploring
               different visual expressions, beyond the
realm of the human figure and the genre
of still life. Abstracted landscapes, like the
presented lot, were the formative ground
upon which he went on to execute his
               metascapes. And, therefore, the presented
landscape from the year 1963 represents an
important phase in his artistic journey. One
can observe a distinct colour composition
tendency, which follows suit through the
following years. However, the structuring of
the work from this period is indeed poetic
in nature, as opposed to the lyrical premise
of his metascapes. In the presented lot,
colours cascade into one another, without
               inhibition, without segmentation, flowing
with a swirl of exploration. The technique
