A FLORENTINE SINGER BRONZE
SCULPTURE
by F Barbedienne
Depicting a Florentine singer playing the mandolin,
the intricate bronze sculpture is a reproduction by
famed bronze caster F Barbedienne of the original
Florentine singer executed by French sculptor Paul
Dubois in 1865. The original plaster model also
earned the sculptor an award from the Paris Salon.
Signed F Barbedienne Fondeur, further engraved
with P Dubois 1865, and Reduction Mecanique seal

A MARBLE SPINARIO SCULPTURE
Executed in Italian Carrara marble, the sculpture
depicts a boy seated on a rock attempting to pull a
thorn from his foot. This was likely inspired by the
famed Greco-Roman Spinario bronze sculpture.
This sculpture was renowned for representing the
beauty of human form in action and was reproduced
by other sculptors throughout Europe.
