Born in 1922, S H Raza spent his early years in
towns adjacent to the forests of Madhya Pradesh, an
experience that instilled in him a deep connection with
the surrounding natural world. This connection became
a lasting part of him, leaving a profound impact on his
artistic journey. Throughout his remarkable career,
S H Raza received numerous accolades, including
several prestigious awards. In 1981, he was honored with
the Padma Shri and Fellowship of the Lalit Kala Akademi.
In 2007, he was bestowed with the esteemed Padma
Bhushan, further acknowledging his significant impact
on the artistic landscape. In 2013, he was honored with
the distinguished Padma Vibhushan, a testament to his
exceptional achievements and profound influence in the
field of art.
