The presented lot is a majestic creation
by the renowned artist Thota Vaikuntam,
and encapsulates the core of his artistic
philosophy influenced by the profound
yet simple moments that define life in
rural Andhra Pradesh. This expansive
masterpiece unfolds as a vibrant
celebration of culture and spirituality,
prominently featuring Lord Krishna at its
centre, surrounded by villagers—men and
women—expressing deep reverence with
folded hands. The divine tableau extends
to include a flurry of green parrots, vividly
portraying the joy and harmony of this
festive gathering.
Vaikuntam’s distinctive artistic style radiates
through this work, marked by his brilliant
utilisation of primary colours—reds, blues,
and yellows intricately weaving together
to form a visually striking composition that
captivates the observer’s attention and
engages the senses. The artist’s meticulous
attention to detail breathes life into the
characters of the village—men, women,
and children—symbolising a rich Indian
tradition within his works.
Born in 1942 in the Karimnagar district of
undivided Andhra Pradesh, Thota Vaikuntam
completed his Diploma in Painting at the
