Suryakant Lokhande was born in Mumbai in 1969. He was passionate
about art since childhood; and so, after completing his secondary
schooling, he secured admission at the Sir J J School of Art. After
graduating he worked with advertising agencies like Lintas and Ogilvy
& Mather, where he had the opportunity to learn and understand
the link between art and media. In his early artistic career, Suryakant
found inspiration in pop art which led to his mixed-media works in
high-gloss paint. His subjects, adopted from the real world, were
liberated on the canvas with a voice of their own. The artist’s work
has been exhibited in India and abroad. He has won several awards
including the All India Western Railway Art Competition, Maharashtra
State Art Award, and Camlin Award. The artist continues to work and
               lives in Mumbai.
