M F Husain’s Blue Danube is a vibrant
homage to the famous symphony by
Johann Strauss of the same name.
Blending his distinctive artistic style with
musical themes, the painting centres
on his iconic motif of a horse, ridden by
a nude figure, symbolising movement
and freedom. The composition is
enriched with two colourful musical
instruments, evoking the rhythm and
harmony. Husain’s dynamic strokes and
vivid colours create a visual symphony,
merging traditional Indian imagery with a
global cultural reference.
