Bakre’s landscapes speak of his fascination with
geometric forms as reflected in his works of the
late 1950s and 1960s. Most of his works during
this period were structured and expressive in style
with spiky forms bound by strong lines. His colour
palette now included bright colours as compared
to his previous works. Bakre’s skill as a sculptor
added dynamism to his paintings as depicted in his
landscape paintings featuring architectural forms
using a vibrant colour palette.
The city of London marked a shift in his perspective
and oeuvre, making it an important phase in his
life. His works were exhibited at various galleries
in London such as Woodstock Gallery in 1958,
Gallery One in 1959, and Centaur Gallery in 1962.
This phase of his career brought him worldwide
recognition for his art and proved to be a major
boon to his overall oeuvre.
