owner from Dreweatts, UK
This lot is a registered antique with the Government
of India, under the Antiquities and Art Treasures
Act -1972, under Antiquities and Art Treasures Rule
1973, under section 16 of the above act, with the
Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)
William Daniell RA was an English landscape and marine
painter, as well as a printmaker, renowned for his aquatint
works. Eigg, one of the four islands in the Small Isles group
of the Scottish Inner Hebrides, is known for its rich history,
diverse wildlife, and vibrant community. This painting by
Daniell portrays the island and its highest peak, The Scurr,
which is part of the Scurr of Eigg Pitchstone Formation,
created by volcanic activity during the Eocene epoch.
Daniell created numerous Scottish landscapes, many of
which were showcased at the Royal Academy.
