Ramgopal Vijayvargiya, born in 1905 in Baler, COMPARABLE
Rajasthan, discovered his passion for art at a young
age, initially learning the basics of drawing from
a wandering ascetic. His father, recognising his
talent, wholeheartedly supported his artistic journey.
Ramgopal pursued formal studies at the Maharaja
School of Arts and Crafts, where he received
mentorship from the distinguished Bengal revivalist,
               Shailendranath De.
At just 17, Ramgopal held his first solo exhibition at
the Fine Arts and Crafts Society in Kolkata, where his
exceptional talent was quickly recognised. His rapid
progress in college was remarkable—completing a
five-year course in just eight months. Following his
education, Ramgopal briefly worked as a drawing
teacher, but his true calling lay in creating art. By the
age of 30, he had established a strong reputation in
the art world, with nearly a thousand of his paintings
               sold to eager collectors.
Much of his work was inspired by literary figures such
as Kalidas and Omar Khayyam, reflecting his deep
connection to poetry and literature. Throughout his
prolific career, Ramgopal produced a significant YOUTH IN NIGHT
body of work, and today, his paintings are held 40.5 x 31 in (102 x 77 cm)
in numerous prestigious collections worldwide, Watercolour on paper
solidifying his legacy as a master artist. Sold for $ 25,681
