Suryakant Lokhande, born in Mumbai in 1969,
developed a passion for art from an early age.
Following his secondary education, he enrolled at
the Sir J J School of Art. After graduating, he worked
with renowned advertising agencies such as Lintas
and Ogilvy & Mather, where he gained valuable
insight into the relationship between art and media.
This experience helped refine his skills and shaped
his artistic vision.
Lokhande’s work often incorporates a visual language
that blends elements of pop art with photographic
references. Through his art, he explores the
absurdity of the material world, critiquing how life
is often viewed superficially rather than through a
deeper search for meaning. He has showcased his
work in numerous solo and group exhibitions both
in India and internationally. His art can be found in
various public collections, and one notable piece,
‘The Camera Man’, created in collaboration with the
RPG Art Foundation, is installed outside Mehboob
Studios in Bandra, Mumbai. This sculpture has
been widely appreciated by both celebrities and the
general public.
