The chrome-plated steel column stands on a circular base
and supports a frosted glass shade.
Jean Perzel was a famed craftsman best known for his
innovation and artistry in lighting. Born in Paris, he trained in
metalsmithing and then went onto open his atelier in 1923 in
the city he was born in.

A FRENCH GILT BRONZE
ART NOUVEAU VASE
The large French Art Nouveau vase features decorations
depicting birds and flowers in high relief. The vase has stylised
handles and rim, and rests on an attached base.
Art Nouveau, meaning ‘New Art’ in French, was an international
art movement that flourished from the late 19th century to the
early 20th century. It sought to break away from historical styles
and created a new, modern aesthetic that embraced artistic
unity and harmony with nature. Some of its motifs include
curving lines, floral patterns, and plant forms.
