Lot No. 19
A PIETRA DURA CABINET
This French Renaissance-style Pietra Dura cabinet exemplifies
exquisite late 19th-century craftsmanship. Crafted from
ebonised wood, it is adorned with brass inlays and detailed
ormolu mounts. The bombé-fronted body features a central
door decorated with a vibrant hardstone Pietra Dura design,
depicting a floral and fruit arrangement, including lilies of the
valley, forget-me-nots, cherries, and pears.
The top frieze showcases geometric ormolu mounts, while
Corinthian-inspired ormolu capitals and bases embellish
the columns flanking the three doors. Linear brass banding
accentuates the elegant curves, and the cabinet rests
gracefully on four ormolu mounted feet, a testament to its
luxurious design and superior artistry.
