A RARE CAST COPPER LAMP
by Miyao
This stunning copper lamp features a landscape scene
on the body surrounded by motifs of clouds and cranes.
The ornamental lamp with stylised handles also has an
associated lacquered wooden box.
The Miyao company, based in Tokyo and Yokohama,
was founded by Miyao Eisuke. They were popular for
their fine bronze creations that often had gilt detailing.
They exhibited their work at the National Industrial
Exposition in 1881.
